It is a museum comprising of two floors and has three galleries along with a chief hall. The Museum of Tajmahal, as the name of suggests, displays all those things in connection to the creation of Taj Mahal. There are total of one hundred and twenty one antiques showcased in Taj Mahal museum. These things can be broadly classified into Mughal manuscripts, inscription samples, royal decrees, Mughal miniature paintings, drawings and plans of Taj Mahal. Some more exquisite items are also exhibited in the museum like utensils, specimen of decorative pieces, arms,pillars, marble, etc.
The main hall showcases the most significant items. Tourists can take a look at the portraits of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan, his beloved wife. These are seen in an ornate wooden frame. Taj Mahal was covered with a huge scaffold in the 20th Century so that it looked like a stockpile of bamboo to bombers.The architect who lead the team of architects to build the Taj mahal laid the foundation of the Red fort too.Probably Ustad Ahmed Lahauri, was the leader of the architect’s team.
Taj Mahal was built in stages, with the plinth and the tomb taking up roughly 15 years.Taj’s foundation is made of timber which is not supposed to be long lasting. The wood should weaken overtime and crumble owing to ruin and rot, but that did not happen because the wood is kept strong and moist by the Yamuna river.
